He isn’t convinced that the “gospel” is true. You are misunderstanding it. He is simply saying that their are good people who care about humanity, no matter what the differences in their beliefs.
Forgot one: Matthew 22:39 (Contemporary English Version) The second most important commandment is like this one. And it is, Love others as much as you love yourself…
Penn’s video reaffirms that we need to hear Jesus’ command in Matthew 28:19(Contemporary English Version) which says, Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit… However, the way this unnamed man went about it, I believe, is the way Jesus intended. Plant the seed, pray for the person (everyone for that matter), live our Christian lives in front of them, and let God do the rest! :o)
Love is hard to believe, ask any lover. Life is hard to believe, ask any scientist. God is hard to believe, ask any believer. What is the problem with hard to believe?
Religulous people again are getting everything wrong. If you believe tomorrow Extraterrestrial warriors are going to destroy Los Vegas, it is your obligation to run around and try to get people out of there. But you are still going to be a nut case. ;-)
@joshpnw I understand what you’re trying to say. But all I’m saying is that for me to believe in a god that someone claims to exist, I’m going to need some proof. That is an extraordinary claim.
What I am getting at is this… at some point, we all take things on faith… on some level. Most of us agree there is air (sufficient mixture of gases that allow us to breathe)… as well as a number of other unseen things in the universe… yet we simply… for the most part, take it on someone elses word (by good faith) that it’s true. I have begun a lengthy study into different religions with an open mind that there might be unseen forces out there… just not yet proven by science.
@joshpnw Actually I have done similar measurements in my meteorology class in college. We didn’t go as in depth as actual meteorologists do but I did generally learn what’s done.
@joshpnw No but we can prove that air exists. We can measure the chemical makeup of air as far as nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide goes. You cannot prove that a god exists, therefore I have no reason to believe in one. If someone is going to make a claim such as a supernatural omnipotent being created everything, then I want to see some evidence.
It doesn’t take faith to believe in no god. Faith IMO is simply a word that excuses believing irrational things. We were programmed to need proof to believe things. Therefore unless I see some proof, I will say there is no god. And it took no faith for me to say that.
@joshpnw Well of course it can’t be proven. But I can make an extraordinary claim and say that it can’t be proven, either. You can’t prove that any set of beliefs is not true. If you state that there is no god, that is a perfectly reasonable statement to make unless there is some proof that shows otherwise.
@joshpnw Well I’d say he’s not in the position to prove that one exists. Since believers are the one’s making an extraordinary claim, they would be the one’s who would have to prove that a god exists.
@joshpnw your a fucking idiot i said i was replying to someone with my that there is no god comment he said waht is the athiest position on god so i said that there isnt one fucking read
yes i can. atheist means without god so therefore an athiest believes there is no god it was a reply to someone else and no i obviously cant prove there is no god beyond any shadow of a doubt but i will say its highly unlikely that there is one

How were we “programmed” without a Creator, God?
and now that I’ve finished watching the video, I see Penn agrees with that sentiment
Given that your reasons for prayer are out of genuine concern for this man’s well being, I’d say that’s downright decent of you.
I’m an atheist anti theist and I ask, how do you know there is no god?
Penn,
For an atheist, you give one heck of a sermon.
I will keep you in my prayers for salvation.
Bob

Ever done all those measurements?
@joshpnw No but we can prove that air exists. We can measure the chemical makeup of air as far as nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide goes. Can you see air?

I didn’t say one way or the other. The previous commenter emphatically says that there is NO God.
I only said that can’t be proven. I made no claims the God does or does not exist.
I stand by my statement… that can’t be proven.
IMO, it takes as much faith to believe there is NO God as it takes to believe there IS a God.

Thanks for proving my point.

nigga is you crazy!
@bobdylan4evr Can you prove that?
